More than 20 applications were received from both global and local players Share [SINGAPORE] The Singapore government on Friday (Aug 21) has awarded a total of 200 megawatts (MW) in new data centre capacity to four data centre operators through its latest round of tender. Digital Realty, Equinix, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) and Keppel Data Centres have been awarded the tender through the Data Centre - Call For Application 2 (DC-CFA 2). Each company will be provisionally allocated 50 MW of capacity, and they will be locating their facilities on Jurong Island. The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) said: "To enable the data centre sector to operate more sustainably, JTC is developing a low-carbon data centre park on Jurong Island to leverage potential low-carbon technology synergies within the island's ecosystem." Announced in December last year, the DC-CFA 2 exercise received more than 20 proposals from local and global operators. The supported data centres have committed to exceed the minimum sustainability requirements imposed for the latest rounds of tender, noted EDB and IMDA.
