I'm looking to permanently quit ChatGPT/Claude because I'm sick of them not delivering the product they claim to offer, silently swapping to lower quality models, gaslighting their users, and all their other shenanigans. My key requirements are: Reputable host, with user-friendly data retention policies I use my LLM to do about everything and constantly give it access to privileged info, including leaking api keys, details about my research, the works. I've decided it's not really feasible to keep from leaking this info so trusting the provider is critical for me. I don't want to send my data to China and preferably I sent to a more established company that has reputation and legal accountability to the US Government. 2. Consistent Quality: Provider will never silently quantize Its important that the model feels the same to me every time I use it. It's super stressful to trust an AI to work on a task only to find it's suddenly extremely dumb and incapable of basic tasks, possibly destroying my work, as Astra did last week after a sudden bout of nerfing. In short, I am willing to take an intelligence cut and even possibly pay more for consistent results that don't compromise me later to hacks/exploitation.

  • [comment u/carlocapocasa] Best I found so far are baseten or fireworks in the US, or tensorx in the EU.

  • [comment u/NextTour118] Fireworks is great. They have all the flagship open source models, but note you’ll probably want to open an account there and do BYOK to avoid hitting rate limits (I found they surprisingly didn’t give Openrouter a very good rate limits).

  • “In OpenRouter settings you can configure Zero Data Retention where it’s contractually enforced they don’t keep your data. openrouter team is good about holding providers to high standard. Example, if you use OpenAI models, their servers have no training data guarantee but still hold your prompts for 30 days for “safety”. You can tell OpenRouter to use Azure instead where it has ZDR policy for Open”

  • “You bring good requirements, I like Cerebras, but not sure about data retention. I use DuckAI and RogerAI for private type stuff but consistently will vary. You might consider renting a GPU and serving your own model if you’re technically capable.”

No big deal, you just pay Fireworks directly but can still use Openrouter if you’ll still be using other providers.”
