Anyone familiar with the INJEKTO 3? What materials for molds?

Hi there! I'm looking at getting the INJEKTO 3 for injection molding custom objects. I have a wide variety of applications in mind and was wondering what mold materials work best. I see that it takes aluminum and 3D Printed molds, but are there other materials? I like the low-cost and ease of a 3D printed mold but I don't like the printed lines. I am intimidated by aluminum and do not have a CNC machine. Has anyone used this machine or something similar to make: -dice-miniatures [1:16 scale furniture, Warhammer figure accessories, diorama fillers]-ball joints-gears-hinges-tools -pieces to assemble larger objects[jointed toys, fidget toys, assembled figures] What types of molds can make sturdy, fine-detailed items that don't look 3D Printed? Is there any possibility of a firm silicone mold inside an aluminum mother mold for at-home injection molding? I am open to suggestions for other machines as well!

  • [comment u/The_Foam_Engineer] SLA 3D-printing is what you're looking for. High detail, layer lines are essentially invisible.

  • [comment u/The_Foam_Engineer] You may look into just getting a Form Labs Form4 over the INJEKTO 3.

  • “for the stuff you listed, real talk - you might be reaching for the wrong process. the silicone-in-aluminum idea doesn't really work for injection molding, silicone can't take the injection pressure, it'll blow out. silicone molds are a casting thing, not injection. and honestly dice, miniatures, ball joints in small numbers? that's silicone mold + resin casting territory, not injection. way che”

  • “Silicone-in-aluminum is a casting trick. It will not hold injection pressure, so skip that path for INJEKTO-style molding. For dice, minis, gears, and hinges that should not look printed, soft aluminum usually beats a resin mold. Printed cavities transfer layer lines, and life is short once temps climb. If you do not have CNC, have a small mold shop cut a simple A/B pair. Benchtop machines are”

You can get just a good quality for mini figures and other things you are wanting. Unless you own on making a large amount of them, the injection molding doesn't really make sense.”

  • “You'll get more shots and better looking parts from a aluminum mold most likely. But it also depends on how well the mold was machined. You can use 3D printed but will have to stick to lower temps materials like PET and use higher temp materials for 3D prints. They do offer backers for reducing flex. Molding isn't as easy as 3D printing. I would look into mold design explenations on like youtube”
