Clicking goes away in standby mode. And can hear the click on comm1 and comm2

  • “You need to use double shielded coax; RG-58 is only single shield, swap it out for RG- 400 and make sure you have proper separation between any Com and L-band antennas. The clicking you hear is the one second update that the transponder is sending out.”

  • “I have seen this issue many many times with all manner of Transponder. RG-400 can certainly help, but it may not fix the issue. Often the clicking is not actually coming from the Coms, usually it is heard anytime the intercom is on. It's a known issue at Garmin, they may be able to give some advice, but they cannot offer any sure fix. In my experience, the best option is to have the XPDR coax”

  • “When its happening turn the xpdr off and see if it stops (assuming it is safe todo so)”

  • “The cause? No. The cause is RF from something that was likely installed incorrectly, location, shielding. Believe it or not comm antennas must not be run with other wires, same for GPS. Can the poor installation be solved by using RG400? Potentially. You’re better off pulling breakers until you find the cause.”

  • “Coax on transponder and the audio panel isn't being grounded properly either. Ground loops bleed into audio lines.”
