Rumor mill has it GE sent end of life letters out to all their customers and are exiting the patient monitoring business. Can anyone from GE confirm this?

  • [comment u/Pretty-Support7285] There actually is some truth behind the rumors, but GE hasn’t announced that they’re exiting monitoring. On the Q2 earnings call they confirmed they’re reviewing strategic options for PCS, including continued ownership or a possible sale.

  • “I heard they might sell the monitoring business…… similar to GE appliances. Haier manufacturers appliances with GE logo. As a GE Biomed I have not seen any GE Healthcare emails about it.”

  • “I heard rumors of them discussing getting out of monitoring and Biomed, but I never heard anything definitive.”

  • “In the last quarterly earnings call they said they are exploring options for monitoring including making it more profitable or possibly selling. Nothing for certain right now but they definitely wanted that messaging out there so it's less of a surprise if they sell off that segment. As far as end of life letters, I'm sure those get sent out anyways and could be unrelated.”

  • “I saw something along the lines of PCS not generating enough revenue (in comparison to imaging, but obviously, imaging is huge) and are “exploring” options. That’s all I know at my level, but everything else is just rumors”

  • “The PCS business which includes Monitors, DCAR, Anesthesia, and MIC has been struggling for years. They were -130 Ebitda last quarter alone. GE is currently shopping around to find someone to partner with or buy the business. The factory for PCS led to these issues. I still doubt that someone would buy a segment that’s bleeding the way it is. There’s articles you can read about this as well.”
