First q, My firm (UK only, couple of hundred lawyers) still has generalist tools (Claude, copilot) on which we're building skills and agents to support workflows at the moment. Our innovation team is also building specific applications that use open AI models through Azure AI, working with lawyers in individual teams. These are all self hosted and no intention to license out. Is this way off the mark with what others are doing? Second q, what I want to build with them is essentially a diligence workflow application. where you drop in all the docs, allocate review to colleagues, you can then use our diligence skills and templates in the app to generate the first draft of a red flag report. Ultimately it will also compile the report too. One of the advantages being we can track the changes between the initial LLM draft and the final version to refine the skills. Do Harvey/Legora or other tools already do this? Without access to them it's hard to see what exactly they offer.

  • “Iteration friction is the bit better prompts won’t fix. What’s worked for me is making the feedback a side effect of review lawyers already have to do, so nobody is ever asked to “improve the skill”. Have the skill output findings as separate items (issue, doc ID, page, risk level, how confident it is), not a prose report. The report gets compiled at the end from the approved items. The review”

  • “You're not off the mark. Building in-house on Azure so the data stays put is pretty much what mid-size firms are doing now, and it makes sense if you have an innovation team that can sit with the lawyers. On Harvey/Legora: from what I've seen, they're strongest at the review and drafting assistance itself. The allocation and tracking side, and especially the loop where you feed lawyer edits back”

  • “There is overlap with Harvey’s published workflow: its own write-up describes using a Vault review table as a source, alongside a memo template, to draft a diligence memo: https://www.harvey.ai/blog/from-intake-to-deliverable-with-harvey I’d ask a vendor to demonstrate reviewer allocation and capture of edits separately; the table-to-memo description alone doesn’t establish those parts of your p”
