Highlighted: the lines this signal was extracted from

My company is toying with the idea of moving from HubSpot to Twenty The WTF: we'd lose all the marketing features and rebuild them in code. Forms, newsletter builder, buying signals, sequences, all of it, gone. I know posting this in r/hubspot looks like I'm fishing for the answer I want. Mostly I want to know if we're the only ones considering it. The reasoning the tech guy is giving: Twenty lets you build your own CRM around what you actually need. Why our CMO is pushing it: they don't do admin work and don't want to. They look at the data, but never see what it takes to keep it running. And they want to prompt everything using Claude. Dashboards, questions about leads, audience, etc. If you've made this switch (or killed the idea), what did the rebuild really cost you? What broke first? If not, what do you think? Over engineering? We’re doing it just because we can do it? We’re not a big company, and our TAM is not that big. Woukd love to hear your thoughts

  • “Everyone thinks they'll be brilliant at writing their own CRM until the do it. I personally wouldn't. It's hard to say what will break first, but first I'd just explore simpler CRM alternatives even before jumping to Twenty.”

  • “the rebuild will eat your team alive, marketing ops always gets shafted when someone thinks raw code can replace years of tooling”

  • “this is a classic developer trap rebuilding marketing forms and email sequences from scratch will cost you months of engineering time. if your cmo just wants to query leads and dashboards using claude, you don't need a new crm. just build a simple ai agent that reads from the hubspot api so they get their chat interface without destroying your existing marketing infrastructure.”

  • “From a developer perspective, this will come close to opening Pandora's box. Not trying to convince you or so, but this will be quite a hellish job. While twenty looks nice and easy, and is the new shiny kid on the block. It's quite nice. But: ask yourself (and your tech guy): who will maintain it? Who will be responsible for it? Think about it this: Hosting it yourself will open up a new”

  • “I actually went down a similar path. I wanted to move away from HubSpot and use AI to customize features to perfectly fit my needs, so I started looking into Twenty. But there were so many things I’d miss like tracking, booking links, email templates, Zoom and LinkedIn integrations, and a bunch of other features. So I eventually decided to build my own CRM instead. I’ve spent years developing in”
