The Hy-Vee Central Iowa Honor Flight, set for October 7, will fly veterans to the nation's capital to visit Arlington National Cemetery and several military monuments before returning to Des Moines that same evening. The Hy-Vee Central Iowa Honor Flight will be provided at no cost to veterans who have applied and are currently on a waiting list to attend. Central Iowa does not currently have an Honor Flight Network hub, which has led to some veterans in Dallas, Madison, Polk and Warren counties to be on a waiting list for several years. Hy-Vee is partnering with the Honor Flight Network and The Honor Flight of the Quad Cities hub to prioritize these veterans and bring them on this trip to honor their service.
