SCHOLDFIELD, Wis. (WAOW) - A group of 115 young volunteers dressed in green gathered to help ensure local students have food on the table. The students are part of Peyton's Promise, a nonprofit working to support area families. In partnership with Hy-Vee and other local organizations, the group traveled to four different area schools to stock up their pantries. Students say it was a moment to give back to the community. "I just think that it's super important to be able to give back to the community just because it's hard," Carley Pease, Peyton's Promise Youth Advocate Board said. Addind, "when you're in a school you don't always understand who is using the food pantry so this is just a good way to be able to make sure our community has the resources that they need." Sophie Knetter, Youth Advocate Board also adds, "and just see how much these young students really care about giving back to their community," they said. Wausau Hy-Vee helped to supply nearly 23,000 pounds of food to Peyton's Promise. The food will help stock school pantries, providing fuel for the weekend for local students and families who need it.
