I have been recommending QB Ledger to my basic clients. I am just now learning about QB Free. Has anyone been using it? What is your experience with it? You can only connect 1 bank account and it says no accountant user access. The 1 bank account rules out pretty much everyone I work with, though. https://quickbooks.intuit.com/oa/online/free/

  • “My bigger worry is what happens when they outgrow it free plans are a funnel the whole point is to get them onto a paid tier eventually. so you ve got a client keeping their own books with zero accountant visibility for a year or two then they open a second account or hire someone and suddenly its your problem to clean up. Id rather just put them on ledger from day one so I can see whats going o”

  • “One thing I'd check before putting anyone on a free tier is whether you can export the full transaction history as CSV. If they outgrow it, that export plus the bank statements is usually enough to rebuild clean books in the paid version without a messy catch-up.”

    u/Pablo_at_Jeeves2 points · Oct 29, 2026View

  • “I have not used QuickBooks Free myself, so I would judge any free tier on four things before switching: how many bank accounts you can connect, whether your accountant can access the books, whether invoicing and inventory are actually included, and whether you can export your data cleanly.”
