Highlighted: the lines this signal was extracted from

My daughter was caught up in the JetBlue meltdown at BOS earlier this month. They rebooked her on a flight out of BOS 3 days later and said they'd pay up to $250/night hotel until her rebooked flight. She waited in line that day at BOS for 4+ hours to find alternate arrangements but they refused to help her. So I had her uber to my house 2 hours away and fly out of Hartford instead (she was trying to get back to near her college with a friend). She ended up rebooking via JetBlue on United. I had her submit the Uber receipt ($250 including tip) and additional parking days (not the entire amount) which was probably $30. They are only approving $150. Is this acceptable? I do have CC travel insurance, but honestly this is 100% on jet blue and don't feel we are being unreasonable given that we were only asking for the Uber and additional parking. WWYD?

  • “What exactly are you trying to get? JetBlue offered an alternate flight and compensation for hotel. Your daughter didn't accept that, so the airline isn't responsible for anything else. Use your travel insurance and teach your daughter about taking responsibility for decisions that you make. If your daughter and her friend were driving from Boston to their destination and they were caught up in”

  • “Well, when someone offers compensation for accomodation, take their name and employee number. I rather doubt that any airline would agree to compensate their customers for consequential damages. One would live in hope that airlines would offer a ticket class that would cover all expenses incurred in case of delays or cancellations.”
