BigFix is like SCCM, but cross platform with on prem relays. We’re using it for windows + intune for licensing and policies. Management wants some Mac’s in the environment and he OK’ed Jamf but for a small fleet, seems overkill. Trying to see what features Jamf has that Intune can’t do, (BigFix handles patching and packaging). SUPPOSEDLY Intune has gotten better the last 12 months but their Mac team was decimated in layoffs. Also nervous we might scale Mac’s up to the point were shooting ourselves in the foot migrating to Jamf later on

  • [comment u/goglusifer] After migrating from jumpcloud to jamf and intune, I would suggest, not to think of mdm migration unless it's the last option, it's stressful, time consuming, costly and pure fun killer.

  • “If there's the possibility of scaling, I would just go with Jamf from the jump.”

  • “Intune does the things it does do slower and with a bad workflow. If you got jamf green-lit count yourself lucky.”

  • “Jamf is not overkill for a small fleet. As other people said, if you got Jamf greenlit and there is a possibility of scaling - then I would do Jamf from the beginning. Intune is good at a lot of things, but Apple device management? Not so much.”

  • “15 minute check-in. Right there is a major head start over Intune. If I push something out over JAMF, 75% of the fleet has it by mid morning. For Windows I don’t even have preliminary numbers until tomorrow.”

  • “Big fix is for people that think it’s better than sccm cause they don’t know how to use sccm we migrated to big fix and it’s a clown show Intune provides the service to Mac’s in the same way iTunes exists in windows it’s a substandard experience and don’t use”
