  • “The fact others want to make them kind of undermines the fairly common opinion that their use is at worst non effective and at best unsustainable. Especially given the long lead in times. Maybe just better than nothing.as their is no other option”

  • “Would be big if it happens. Bottleneck is still in component parts like guidance, seekers, and thrusters for the near future though. It also doesn't inspire confidence in the IRIS-T SLX program. I would be asking why Germany is asking for American licensed production when the domestic M-SAM is slated for 2030 as far as I know.”

  • “As does poland I would note that Germany also used to manufacture PAC-2 GEM The only foreign country to manufacture PAC-3 MSE is Japan. Even then they are required to have americans working at the facility for the NORFORN parts of the manufacturing”

  • “It'll be news only if it succeeds. Pretty much anyone (China included) wouldn't mind manufacturing them, but US doesn't have any real reason to agree.”

  • “I think it’s a mistake that the us doesn’t allow other nato countries to manufacture and design things for our military, I understand why historically but us based companies have failed the country. They have failed especially in the naval and army sector”
