Highlighted: the lines this signal was extracted from

I own a landscaping business and built a portfolio-grading web app, Portfolio Optimizer Pro, almost entirely with Lovable plus Claude as a “consultant” reviewing every round. Some honest lessons: Your checkout can be broken without you knowing. Stripe loaded fine, but a missed “ready” signal hid the payment form after 12 seconds. Nobody could buy for days. Test the real purchase path yourself, often. Track every step from landing page to purchase, not just page views. My Facebook ad visitors looked like they were bouncing. Really, the page they landed on never led into the main tool. Reddit feedback is gold if you take it seriously. People found misclassified ETFs, wrong ticker suggestions and a grade that maxed out at B+. All fixed within a day. Test your “smart” features on data they never saw. My optimizer’s suggested mixes looked great on past data. On years they weren’t built from, they didn’t beat people’s own portfolios on average. I changed the product to say so honestly. Pricing: a one-time report that cost more than a month of the subscription made no sense. It’s now a $12 dated snapshot, with Pro for keeping it current. Numbers so far: a few thousand Reddit views turned into about 100 visitors and about 20 checkups. First sales still pending now that checkout actually works 🙃 Happy to answer questions about the build.

  • “I'd turn the 12-second failure into a regression check: open checkout, wait past that timer, then complete a test payment. Checking that the form appears immediately wouldn't have caught this one.”

  • “The checkout one is the scary one. Cheapest guard i know is an alert when you had visitors but zero payments started in Stripe for a day. Would have caught your 12 second bug on day one.”

  • “the pricing shift makes sense. one thing worth thinking about, a $12 snapshot is an easy impulse buy but the real question is whether people come back for the subscription after seeing the report. do you have any sense of that flow yet?”

  • “With Lovable I’d worry that every new round can quietly change the checkout again, so testing it once after the fix doesn’t protect you for long. That’s why I think you should put a check on a schedule instead of testing by hand, landing page through to where the card form loads, every few minutes and especially after every Lovable change. That can be a Playwright script if you’re comfortable with”
