Packaging Corporation of America submitted a WARN notice informing local and state leaders that its Middletown plant is permanently closing. As a result, all 91 employees will be impacted. The company claims the closure is needed for work to "be consolidated into larger and more efficient operations." It then references its newly-opened plant elsewhere in the state for that for that. Tuesday, Dec. 1 is the date listed for when most plant employees will end their work duties. However, "a few" could be asked to remain at the plant beyond that time. According to the notice, the company expects the plant to be vacant no later than the end of the year.
