I have Proxmox VE running on a 2020 Dell Optiplex 5080 wityh 32GB RAM, and I use from Proxmox Menux to monitor it. The Optiplex has been a very reliable workhorse. Recently, I started receiving this error from ProxmoxMenux: Hardware error (MCE) mce: [Hardware Error]: Machine check events logged I researched this cryptic message, and several sources indicated that "the CPU's internal safety hardware had detected a physical hardware defect, instability, or memory parity error." Dang. I powered down, opened the Optiplex case, blew out all the dust, reseated the RAM, and rebooted. Nothing...except for blinking LED indicators on power-up that meant memory issues. have 4 x 8GB DDR4 sticks, and I tried various permuations, and dang it if I didn't continue to get the LED memory error codes. Fortunately, I had 4 x 8GB RRD4 sticks in my "just in case" cabinet, so I popped them in, and it booted without any issue. Proxmox VE is back up and running like a charm, I have to take some time to further troubleshoot the "bad" RAM, and hope the RAM prices come down sooner than leter. So thank you, Proxmox Menux, for providing a monitoring and notificaiton service that provided spotenough information to target my issue and correct it.
