Developers note that Stripe Data Pipeline's full daily re-exports create duplicated records that require deduplication strategies like ReplacingMergeTree or paid re-ingestion downstream.

  • [comment u/Turbulent_Tank726] The duplicated records from the daily full export is the part I'd actually complain about, and a materialized view only hides that you're paying to re-ingest the same rows every day.

  • [comment u/OkZookeepergame3449] 40+ materialized views just to dedupe is using the wrong tool. ReplacingMergeTree with a version column handles the daily re-exports on its own

  • “40+ materialized views just to dedupe is using the wrong tool. ReplacingMergeTree with a version column handles the daily re-exports on its own, you don't need a view per table for that.”

  • “One ClickPipe per table" isn't a gotcha, that's just how ClickPipe works. If clicking through the UI once per table annoys you, script it. The duplicated records from the daily full export is the part I'd actually complain about, and a materialized view only hides that you're paying to re-ingest the same rows every day.”

  • “40 ClickPipes is fine if you script the setup once, it's not the weekly pain. The materialized view per table is the part that would annoy me, at that point just put a ReplacingMergeTree on top of the S3 export and let the engine do the dedupe.”

    u/Capital_Unit_78792 points · Oct 31, 2026View

  • “"Their docs are a bit scattered" is a generous way to describe finding out it's 40 ClickPipes and 40 materialized views done by hand.”

    u/AccessFormal36602 points · Oct 31, 2026View

  • “That's a lot of clicking for what should be one job. Instead of 40 ClickPipes, point a single pipe at the bucket root with a glob (`**.json.gz`) and use the `_path`virtual column to tell the tables apart, then one materialized view with `ReplacingMergeTree`on the record id handles the daily dupes for all of them. Stripe writes the table name into the path so you already have what you need to split”
