Seems like I got in over my head. My brother got solar system installed, through sunrun. He had a fantastic experience. He recommended it to me, we called and set everything up. Nice and smooth, that's where it all the good part ends. The bad part. The installation needed new shingles, they said they will do the roofing, cool. They did the work without a permit. The only changed the shingles on 1/3 the roof, but walked other the whole roof, damaging and compromising the other 2/3rds of the roof. Fixed the rest out of pocket. They installed the solar system. Without a permit. Since they didn't wait for the permit to be completed, because they skipped the roofing permit, the solar system sat on my roof for 9 months the while they sorted out the permit situation. Everything got approved and they where ready to turn the solar system on, but now the battery is dead. 6 months of them saying "where getting a new battery for you in 4-6 weeks. The battery never came. 7 weeks ago a door to door sunrun salesman came knocking and asked about our solar system, i told him everything, he contacted his manager, and they placed the order for a new battery over the phone in my presence. Cool. They scheduled an appointment for today 9/24/2026. The solar system was installed 6/28/2025. The tech arrived 6 hours after they scheduled time, and had no battery with him. He was told to check why...

  • “Well add this one to the pile of SunRun reviews all over this site and others. Sorry you are the test case this time that didn't research :( I hope you aren't paying at least without PTO. I would initiate arbitration with sunrun and then take them to small claims court for the other roof damage.”

Email everyone and every email you can think of (info@ help@ legal @……com ) and then communicate with them until you are 110% satisfied. Read the contract, leave them messages about section xyz… You can put in motion the resources to increase your sit”

  • “You’re not crazy - skip-the-permit roof + solar, nine months dead on the roof, then a warranty loop with no battery in the truck is a paper trail problem, not a “be patient” problem. Put everything in writing (dates, who promised the replacement, the door-to-door reorder, today’s no-show battery) and send it to Sunrun support + your state contractor board / AG consumer complaint channels so there’”

  • “Small update. They located the battery assigned to my account. It's in a warehouse about 2 hours from my house. The previous technician turned off our solar system as a precaution to the battery, which was already dead... The technician today turned the system on, to work during the day. Tomorrow I have to call to get the the date for my battery to be installed.”
