I spend a lot of time customizing .audit files (for hardening/CIS scans), so I built a VS Code extension to make it easier. It adds syntax highlighting, validation, navigation and search directly in VS Code. There's also a feature for bulk-removing checks from audit files, which was something I found myself spending a lot of time doing in my org. It’s on the VS Code Marketplace, so you can install it directly from VS Code.
