Hi everyone, I've recently moved my office to a larger building and am trying to set up a VOIP call center. The phones are SNOM D785, and they work just fine when connected straight to the modem/router. However, when I connect them behind my firewall they fail to register. Vodafone is being super uncooperative and my IT support company has already charged me ~350€ and one passes the ball to the other. Does anyone have any idea of what settings need to be applied to the firewall? It's a Sophos firewall running on a Proxmox VE. The connection chain is Modem -> Firewall -> TPLink switch. The phones do get assigned an IP, and the computers do have internet access when connected wall-phone-pc Any ideas would be greatly appreciated 🙏

  • “Do you see anything in the logs on the Sophos firewall? If it's blocking connection from your phones to your SIP server, you should see evidence of that. The other thing that sprang to mind was SIP ALG. This is often refered to as a "helper" but often doesn't help at all. If you have a setting available for SIP ALG you should turn it off. Regular NAT + some kind of keep-alive setting on the phone”

  • “Do a simple Google search for Sophos firewall running on a Proxmox VE and VoIP Claude will give you all of the instructions on the settings you need to change for VoIP”
