HBO Max signs alliance with Nippon TV and Hulu Japan to internationally distribute local content - Anime, Manga and TV

This Monday (1), Warner Bros. Discovery and Nippon Television, owner of Hulu Japan, signed a global alliance that will allow mutual content sharing between both companies. The reason for the agreement is that HBO Max will launch as a dedicated space within the Prime Video and Hulu Japan applications in October. Thanks to this agreement, both companies will also explore the possibility of internationally distributing Nippon TV and Hulu Japan's local content offering on HBO Max, although without a defined date for this. A similar agreement had previously been made by WBD, when in May 2025 they were promoting the launch of "Max" with U-Next in Japan, which allowed the arrival of various dramas from TBS and TV Tokyo in October of the same year. On the other hand, Prime Video and Hulu subscribers in Japan will be able to access the platform's programming offering, which includes content from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, DC Studios, and Max Originals.
