New business formation signals are structured records of newly registered legal entities, sourced from Secretary of State filings and delivered within days of official recording. Each signal includes the legal entity name, entity type (LLC, Corporation, LP, DBA), owners or organizers, principal address, registered agent, filing date, and effective date, all normalized into one consistent schema across states.

Autobound currently tracks formations in California, New York, Florida, and Texas, with full 50-state coverage on the roadmap. Since February 2026 the pipeline has captured 281,000+ filings across 88,000+ new companies, refreshed weekly. Because these entities have not yet been enriched, cold-called, or loaded into commercial databases, this is the earliest possible buying signal for teams selling to net-new businesses.

How we build each new business formation signal

A weekly job reads new filings from state Secretary of State systems and ships them in one schema.

    Collection

    Each Monday a job reads the prior week's new entity filings (Monday to Sunday) from Secretary of State systems.

  2. 02

    Normalization

    Every state's filing is mapped into one schema: legal name, entity type, owners or organizers, principal address, registered agent, filing date and effective date.

  3. 03

    Enrichment

    Where we can match a domain or LinkedIn page, we add it, with URLs cleaned to the bare domain. Most new entities have no website yet, so every filing ships, with or without a domain.

  4. 04

    Gate and delivery

    Each signal ID is built from the state and filing number, so a rerun never duplicates a record. A fail-closed schema check runs before upload: a batch with any violation, or under 2,000 rows, is held for a person.

How soon after a filing does the signal appear?
Filings are ingested directly from state Secretary of State systems and delivered on a weekly refresh, so most records land within days of official recording. Use effective_date rather than filing_date to time outreach, since Texas and a few other states allow deferred effective dates.
Why is company.domain often null on formation signals?
Brand-new entities typically have no website at the time of filing. Autobound populates the domain through enrichment when a match can be resolved, but expect null for the majority of fresh formations. Owner names and principal addresses give you a direct outreach path in the meantime.
