The Italian tour operator WeRoad is targeting the US market with the help of AirBnB. Founder Paolo De Nadai is banking on the digital generation of Millennials and Generation Z, who increasingly need real contacts. The start-up WeRoad has just raised 58 million dollars in a Series C financing round. Investors include the accommodation platform AirBnB from California. The financing round is primarily intended to enable expansion into the USA. "We are very proud that AirBnB is involved. For us, this is like a dream and shows that our business model works," says Paolo De Nadai in an interview with "Die Presse". He is co-founder of WeRoad and president of the Italian startup accelerator One Day Group, which controls one third of WeRoad's shares. "With AirBnB, we have a strong partner who will help us a lot with our launch in the USA," says the entrepreneur. De Nadai, born in 1988, founded his first company at the age of 19. WeRoad has raised a total of 110 million dollars from investors so far. The investment company H14, the family office of Luigi, Barbara, and Eleonora Berlusconi, is also participating in the new financing round. They are offspring of the former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
