We build a patch management product. Right now it uses Dynatrace to pull health signals from managed assets (things like whether a service or host is healthy before and after a patch is applied). Before we commit further, I'd like to hear from people who use these tools every day. Which APM or monitoring tool does your team use (Dynatrace, Datadog, New Relic, AppDynamics, Elastic, Grafana/Prometheus, something else)? I'm most curious about: - How reliable the health and alerting data is in practice (false positives, gaps, lag) - How comfortable your team is using it day to day - How easy it was to integrate with other tools through its API - Anything you regret or wish you'd known before choosing it I'm not selling anything. I just want to understand what teams trust so we can support the right tools. Thanks in advance!

  • [comment u/DanteWasHere22] I use Dynatrace. I love how the logs, traces, front end, and cloud data is all linked.

  • [comment u/DanteWasHere22] We have the problems set up to trigger calls to our APIs and do things like recycle stuck pods. The simple stuff that wakes you up at 3am for no real reason.

  • “we rolled out datadog a couple years ago and it's been mostly fine, but holy hell the pricing model is predatory. the health/alerting data is pretty reliable once you get the thresholds dialed in, but the lag can be real sketchy depending on how much you're shipping, had a few incidents where alerts fired 4-5 min after the problem already resolved itself, looked like idiots waking people up at 3am”
