The Hawaiian Airlines might try to charge you (incorrectly) for your checked bags, even if you bought your tickets from HA website using HA MasterCard (in which case 2 checked bags are supposed to be free)

(I hope this is in scope for the sub - I would argue that it is, on the grounds that a high percentage of people traveling to/from Hawaii would benefit from this information.) I bought my tickets for my August flight from the Hawaiian Airlines website, using the Hawaiian Airlines "World Elite" MasterCard, which according to [https://www.hawaiianairlines.com/content/travel-info/optional-services-fees](https://www.hawaiianairlines.com/content/travel-info/optional-services-fees) means I was supposed to get up to 2 checked bags for free. But when I tried checking in on the app 24 hours before the flight, and selected the option for 2 checked bags, the app told me that would cost $100. On the day of the flight I went through the line at the Hawaiian Airlines customer service counter in Honolulu, and the agent looked up the record of my purchase and confirmed I had bought the tickets from the HA website using the HA MasterCard, and that means the 2 checked bags were supposed to be free, so she waived the fee. She said this was a glitch that has been happening a lot "at least since April". Just a heads-up since I assume a lot of people might try adding a checked bag and see the fee without realizing it's supposed to be free. I still like the company - giving everyone a free shot of rum right before you land in Hawaii, will do that - but they should fix this. Mahalo!

[comment u/zombifies] This started happening after the merger around April or May 2025. I know since I had a flight using HA in March (no issues) but in May I got that $100 charge if I checked in via the app. I've had to check my bags at the counter since.
