IBM enabling partners to deliver a consultative sell

Big Blue has a well-established channel, working with a wide range of partner types, but it has increasingly recognised that the expectations of customers are changing. As a result, it is looking to partners to provide more than just order fulfilment and installation. The vendor was present at last week’s Fusion Live event held by Trustmarque Ultima and was keen to talk up the opportunities being generated by artificial intelligence (AI) and data management. Mark Osborn, AI and data ecosystem leader of EMEA at IBM, said that customers were looking for strategic guidance and high levels of support around AI, and resellers needed to change their approach. “What we’re looking for, particularly with our resellers, is value-added resellers who are hard and high, but – like Trustmarque – bring value and delivery capability, so we can actually get these solutions deployed,” he said.
