After a first failure attempting to apply artificial intelligence with IBM to replace employees who take orders from vehicles, the restaurant company has now partnered with Google. Under the name ArchIQ, the company would be testing the use of AI in several American restaurants as part of its Next strategy. This system will be able to perfectly listen to and understand customer requests, in addition to being integrated with the local logistics to function as a brain within each restaurant. Neither the brand nor its Spanish franchisees have confirmed a similar test in Spain so far. The first attempt dates back to 2021, when McDonald's tested a voice ordering system with IBM in about a hundred restaurants in the United States, less than 1% of its nearly 14,000 establishments in the country at that time.
