Squeezing SCCM functionality out of intune

I'm slowly dragging my org off of SCCM for endpoints but it will be a little while before I'm able to cut the "co" out of comanagement. Some things you just can't do or do easily in Intune. SCCM being able to dynamically populate deployment collections based on inventory and from baselines just can't be replicated using Intune and Entra. I know someone will say "Sure just use scripting in Ms-graph" but let's be fair that is not anywhere near as functional. Assignment filters are a step in the right direction but are still seriously limited. Same with Entra dynamic groups. How is anyone else replacing the handiest SCCM features in Intune? Hard to justify shelling out for 3rd party when SCCM is "free" and Intune and Entra already cost an arm and a leg.

Extracted from these lines

  • [comment u/khromtx] If you want advanced functionality unfortunately you will have to get comfortable with graph API and postman (or whatever other API platform you prefer).

  • [comment u/khromtx] I find myself having to literally develop the features I want with a custom CLI tool because Intune GUI is simply not enough for the scale i work at.

  • ““SCCM being able to dynamically populate deployment collections based on inventory” Nearest I can suggest is building custom Requirements (scripts) on your apps in Intune. So at the point of assignment to the estate (I.e. all devices), it will filter if the target is applicable. Little clunkier than SCCM but you can achieve the same for app targeting and uplifts. But do I wish they had fixed”

  • “What makes it even worse is that Microsoft has/is depreciating the memberOf attribute for dynamic entra groups. Very unfortunate”
