Has anyone made the switch from IAR to Vanguard? Got contacted about becoming a senior wealth advisor. The job says remote but occasional travel for meetings or conferences. Is this a good position? What is career path like? Are there any upper management or director type positions within wealth management?

  • [comment u/Repulsive-Mortgage70] The salary range is $150k-$233k for that role. You get a partnership payout, depending on how the company has done the past 3 years, of about $21k on average. You also get a bonus that is about 20% of your salary paid in January. ... So really a total 14% match.

  • “Currently an Advisor at Fidelity, was approached by and did an intro call with Recruiter for this position. I’d say on a spectrum of pure sales to pure relationship, it tilts slightly more into relationship than most BD sales roles. Pay range was quoted around $185-240k, and primary role is to be the go-to Planner for a concentrated book of clients, and deepen those relationships.”

  • “I feel like everything I’ve heard is going from BD to RIA, not the other way. I’ve seen similar postings from them and seems like a good role.”

  • “I did the opposite. I was a senior advisor with Vanguard for 10 years. I left about 3 years ago and haven’t looked back. Honestly, I wish I did it sooner. I did see they are finally offering remote positions in select cities which is really nice. That may have enticed me to stay. I was based out of the Scottsdale office and it was a soulless dump of a cube farm.”
