Is a 4.4 GB Articulate file... bad?

To answer some of your questions: - It's entirely videos. 7 videos. Ranging from 3-10 minutes. - Being uploaded to an LMS. - No, it wasn't my decision. - Yes, I have to do it. - My puny work computer actually had a nervous breakdown while trying to manage the file. Okay, now back to my question. Is my file pushing the limits of what should be attempted with Articulate or is it just mildly uncomfortably large and my computer is a total diva? I'm second-guessing everything. I feel so silly for asking this because I generally pride myself on being pretty tech-savvy but I'm at a loss on this one. Send help. My file has been trying to save for the last 10 minutes. What do?

  • [comment u/The_Sign_of_Zeta] embed the video in the Storyline file, which would likely solve the issue, but then you need a video hosting service like Vimeo.

  • [comment u/kgrammer] Better yet, host the videos on a service like Youtube or Vimeo and keep the videos out of the SCORM module.

  • [comment u/JamesMarsh101] I upload vids to Vimeo or YouTube and embed in Storyline/Rise.

  • “Dude, handbrake convert them. 800 mb* (edited, whoops) videos should not be happening at that length. I'd be willing to bet they're exported weird.”

  • “Many LMS won’t actually let you load a file that large. We have many eLearnings with videos, but we tend to either add them directly into the LMS as media or (more commonly) embed the video in the Storyline file, which would likely solve the issue, but then you need a video hosting service like Vimeo.”

  • “We have around 10GB of videos in one course, all embedded as unlisted youtube videos. Your lms may not support such a large scorm package, even after Storyline compression. That would give you a valid reason to use YouTube. Handbrake is a good tip. YouTube also does a great job at compression; you can upload your original files (without publishing them) and download compressed versions.”

  • “Can't you host them somewhere off the file? Gives more flexibility. Also you aren't exporting it in scorm 1.2...right Right :(”

  • “Way too big. Break them apart into sections o separate working file. Otherwise the file gets corrupted and you have to work all over again.”
