Hi everyone,I’m experiencing a pulsing and unstable electrospray signal on a Waters Synapt G2-Si. The signal initially appears normally, but after some time it completely drops out. It then comes back, runs for a while, and drops out again.Interestingly, the periods with no signal seem to last approximately the same amount of time throughout the acquisition, so the pulsing appears fairly regular.Has anyone experienced a similar issue on a Synapt G2-Si? What could cause this, and what settings or hardware components should I check?Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • “How does the spray look? It sounds like you have a blocked capillary or something could be going on with the nebulizer gas supply etc. You can set the reference spray going and monitor it in masslynx over a long period of time to isolate the analytical probe and then repeat with a flow from the analytical sprayer to see if it is the same. When you say the signal drops out is it to zero or is t”

  • “I had a similar problem, the culprit was a partially clogged fret right at the connection with the source. After sonication it went away.”

  • “Does the time between signal drops change if you change the sample flow rate? If yes think HPLC/fluidics issue if no then mass spec hardware issue. Are you running a lockmass? Infuse the lock mass for 5 mins. Does it look the same? Or run anything through the reference capillary. That’ll help you narrow it down at least.”
