I am at Allstate. I have two years as a field property adjuster. I am a top performer. I have been shouted out multiples times by senior leadership. I am also being used as a mentor for new field adjusters. However, lately, all the adjusters with 4+ years of experience are leaving in waves because the demands keep increasing, there is no compensation for working over time, and the stress is mounting. The field people are burning out and these are all good adjusters that have trained and helped me many times. I too am burning out. Allstate has been pretty good to me in terms of benefits and the friendly people I work with but the volume of claims and tasks getting assigned to us as field adjusters keeps increasing. And it seems there is no end in sight to the increased micromanaging. Two of my former colleagues have joined USAA. One is a desk adjuster and says the job is a breeze. The other one is starting in a few weeks as a large loss field adjuster. The desk adjuster has been there for almost 6 months and they emphasize how easy it is. Any loss with more than one room goes to someone else, etc. They say the job is no where near as stressful as Allstate when they were a field adjuster. The other colleague that recently got hired emphasized how much more benefits there are, 36 days of PTO to start, all federal holidays that we don’t get at Allstate, you are paid for...

  • “I was never a desk adjuster for USAA but from what I know, not only do they get buried in claims but they also effectively work in a call center. You have to take all calls that reach you, and those are often calls for claims that you have no involvement in but you are expected to help the caller out. From those two things, my assumption is that USAA is a breeding ground for stress and burnout.”

  • “Hi. Prior Moderate IA for Allstate, prior Desk Adjuster Non-Complex Homeowners at USAA. You will regret the transition. I have worked for three carriers and USAA was by far the worst. My team was leaderless for roughly two months back in 2022, we were "dotted lined" to a supervisor who never spoke to us, updated us or guided us in any meaningful way. When we did finally get a new team lead she”

  • “I’m a current USAA desk adjuster. Don’t do it. You’ll be buried in claims and no amount of organization, planning and optimizing processes will help at all as you’ll be taking calls all day on the “status” line, which is just an endless barrage of being screamed at by insureds unhappy with their adjuster or claim decision that has nothing to do with you. It’s actually a complaint line. It’s a call”

  • “I never worked at USAA, but I did have an interview once. The interview was so poorly conducted, I will never apply there again. The interviewing manager was unfriendly, with a deadpan demeanor. The whole interview was based on a STAR questionnaire, and he left no room for any real conversation about my experience or the job. I think it was the most poorly conducted interview I've ever had, which”
