Samsung Electronics is expanding appliance subscriptions beyond households to businesses such as hospitals, hotels and banks. Rather than paying a large lump sum to buy an air conditioner or refrigerator all at once, customers pay monthly to use the products along with management services. For businesses, the advantage is that upfront investment costs can be reduced and spread out as operating expenses. Samsung Electronics said on the 28th that, marking the second anniversary of its subscription service, it would revamp the existing “AI Subscription Club” as “Samsung AI Subscription” and newly launch “B2B Samsung AI Subscription” for corporate customers. The most notable change is the expansion of subscriptions from business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions to business-to-business (B2B) services. When a business or self-employed owner opens a workplace, buying all the necessary appliances, such as refrigerators, air conditioners and washing machines, at once requires a substantial upfront investment. The burden is even greater for businesses that operate multiple locations simultaneously or require large numbers of appliances, such as hotels and hospitals.
