I used to have firstnet years ago with Galaxy devices but twice I switched into firstnet and then left because both times I was told my unlocked phone was compatible and both times they were not. Every time I got a phone call, the device would completely lose mobile data. I was told the devices didn't support LTE over voice on firstnet. The speeds were also inconsistent with my wife's phone on ATT getting faster speeds. Anyone have these experiences with unlocked samsung devices nowadays?

  • [comment u/EmbarrassedFuture165] Samsung has not and will not certify the U1 model software for Firstnet.. You will either need to cross flash or buy the U model phone.

  • [comment u/Matt8828] I have an unlocked fold 7. I had to flash the U firmware on it, but it works.

  • [comment u/DurangedMikey] I just recently flashed att firmware onto a u1 s26 ultra.

  • “I have an unlocked fold 7. I had to flash the U firmware on it, but it works. The lack of the imei in their database prevents online activation or in store activation, but you can transfer the e Sim phone to phone without issue. Everything works, unlike a few years ago, I even get firmware updates OTA.”

  • “I have a unlocked pixel 10 Pro XL on firstnet and everything works great. Trick with phones that I have found is to activate originally on a firstnet compatible phone with an esim and then do an esim transfer during setup with the unlocked phone you want to use. It should transfer the esim and be fine. I fought for hours on the phone the first time before I found a rep named Kyle that was awesome”

  • “I just recently flashed att firmware onto a u1 s26 ultra. Used a pixel to transfer esim to the s26 ultra and everything works as expected. Even checked with chat and the imei has since been confirmed on their backend.”

  • “Yea ATT won't allow anything but whitelisted devices to access their premium features like RCS, VoLTE, visual voicemail or AT&T Video calling. And since FirstNet is partners with AT&T for the hardware side, what AT&T says goes ..”
