Squarepsace gave me 50% off coupon, can I just duplicate my current website and then use the coupon?

My website comes up for renewal in a week or so, and Squarespace happens to have given me a 50% off coupon. The asterisk just says: *Free custom domain for your first year with annual website plans, only. Discount does not apply to future recurring payments. Discount may not be applied to previous purchases, subscription upgrades, combined with any other offer or applied after 30/10/2026 to purchases made before expiration of this offer. My domain is with Porkbun, so presumably I can just duplicate the website, pay for 1 year with the coupon, reconnect my domain to the duplicated website, then cancel the old plan?

  • [comment u/TornImperialism] I did exactly this a couple years back when they sent me a promo code right before renewal. Duplicated the site, applied the code to the new one, switched the domain over, and cancelled the old plan. No issues at all.

Only thing to watch for is if you've got any third party integrations or commerce stuff running, sometimes they don't carry over perfectly with the duplication. Nothing broke for m”
