As we’ve grown the spreadsheets I started with are becoming a real headache. Tracking schedules and hours across more staff takes way longer than it should, and things get missed more often than I’d like. I’m trying to find something better for scheduling and payroll instead of sorting everything out by hand every week. One of my friends mentioned Homebase, so that’s on my list to look at. But I wanna hear from other managers. What’s worked well for you?

  • [comment u/villianinahat] We use 7Shifts and like them, especially their great forecasting algorithm when tied into Toast pos historical data. That said, we signed up before Toast had a comparable scheduling system available in 2021, but I have no urge to move to something else.

  • “If your POS doesn’t have a native option I’d take a look at Sling or Homebase… 7Shifts isn’t terrible either. I firmly believe you make the right choice by personally seeing all the options out there and seeing how it would apply to your specific operation.”

  • “We use Restaurant 365 as our accounting software for the restaurants. One of the modules is for scheduling. It comes with an app for their our staff to be able to access their schedules from their phones, trade shifts, etc., etc. we used to use Hot Schedules and another app, but the Restaurant 365 scheduling module is already included in what we pay so that’s why we use it. Works fine for us.”
