Highlighted: the lines this signal was extracted from

I’m launching a supplement brand in Germany and over the last two months I’ve spoken with about 17 payment providers and acquirers, and I keep hitting the same wall. What I’ve learned about how this year changed things: Visa’s VAMP replaced the old dispute and fraud programmes, and it counts fraud reports and disputes together in one ratio. From April 2026 the merchant “excessive” threshold in Europe dropped from 2.2% to 1.5%. More importantly, acquirers are now measured on their whole portfolio (around 0.5% / 0.7%). So they’ve become very selective about who they onboard, especially nutra and anything with recurring billing. Several told me their internal limits are stricter than Visa’s anyway. My situation: Several declined outright: the reason was “no processing history” or “no recurring for new nutra”. One gave a written offer: they’ve since changed their acceptance policy, and subscriptions are now in question. An orchestrator couldn’t find an acquirer to match. One-time payments are fine: PayPal is live, and some acquirers will do one-time cards only. Questions for people who’ve been through this: Is “no subscriptions without 3–6 months of history” basically universal now, or did you find acquirers that onboard new recurring merchants (even at high-risk pricing)? Did you start one-time only and switch subscriptions on later? How long did it take, and what...
